Tahini from Amedi, since 1948
Bayaz Tahin is made in the ancient city of Amedi, perched on a mountain plateau in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Generations of craftspeople have perfected the art of making راشي (tahin) and طحينة (tahina) here — and our family has been part of that tradition since 1948.
Our sesame seeds are sourced directly from small family farms in the Kurdistan region, known for producing some of the world’s finest sesame crops. The seeds are carefully roasted and then stone-ground on century-old granite millstones. This gentle process preserves the delicate oils and aroma that industrial steel grinders destroy.
The result is a silky smooth tahini with a lighter colour and flavour than mass-produced sesame paste. It shines in both sweet and savoury dishes: drizzle it over hummus, use it for halva, blend it into dressings and dips — or enjoy it straight from the jar.
From Amedi, our tahini travels to our hub in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, from where we ship to customers across Europe. In North America, our partner bayaze.com brings the same tahini to your door.
